To access our services, you need to go through the Department of Health and Human Services. For adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, you will work with an Intake Coordinator and the Department of Services for People with Disabilities (DSPD). No, CTA does not offer assessments or evaluations.

No, CTA does not take private pay.

Both of these services include bringing a person into your home and providing all the normal, daily care someone would require. The difference is that these children (for professional parents) or adults (for host homes) tend to have more complex needs that are often behavioral, psychiatric, or medical.

You must be 18 years or older, have a valid Utah driver’s license, pass a criminal background check, and be able to provide a private bedroom in your home. Those are the basics!

CTA will walk you through the process of all the required paperwork and training as required by the State of Utah. Typically, the time to become certified depends on you. We’ve had people certified within weeks. You have control over the timeline.

We interview each family to gather information for matching purposes. We look at things like pace of life, hobbies, home environment, work schedules, and all members living in the same household. You may also be interviewed by the person and potentially their guardian, as well. The process differs a little and is dependent on the person’s age.

Parents are required to complete initial, annual, and ongoing training to meet the state requirements and maintain their certification. We will always be there to help!

Yes, they do. There are some differences between the requirements for fostering a child versus providing a host home for an adult. We can help you navigate these once we have gathered more information from you.

CTA employs a team of board-certified behavior analysts, as well as an LCSW, who will help guide you through the needs of the given person based on evaluations and assessments. We also offer family counseling when the needs arise.

CTA is looking for all kinds of families: single persons, married couples, people with kids, empty nesters, and beyond. Other kids and four-footed fur kids are welcome, as well!

Salt Lake and Utah Counties only.

Compensation varies based on the person’s level of need and their funding source. Compensation tends to fall between $1700-$4000 per month. This is typically not taxable income (check with your tax consultant for details).

On school days, our after-school program lasts 4 hours from door to door. For example, if school ends at 2 PM, the person supported would arrive home around 6 PM. We provide transportation from school to the program and then from the program to home. On non-school days during summer break, hours of service are from 9 AM to 3 PM. Parents should drop their child off at 9 AM sharp (not before, so we have time to prepare for the day). We provide transportation home.

For children and adolescents, we provide transportation from school to our location and then home. For adults we support, we pick them up and drop them off. On snow days or inclement weather days, we either delay or cancel transportation. The program will remain open to provide support. Notice will be given as soon as possible.

CTA has an agency-wide program called Exploration. All people supported in day and residential locations are offered a multitude of activities in both one-to-one and group options. They choose what they want to do. We do it all, with activities that include (but aren’t limited to): Going to a park One-to-one music therapy session Painting with our in-house artist Yoga Spanish lessons Hiking Magic: The Gathering Movies Cooking instruction at Sur La Table

If someone is sick, please keep them at home. We want to keep everyone else at the site healthy! If they are already at the program, and have a temp of 100.4 or higher, or signs of other illnesses, you will be called to pick them up. This goes for all people supported.

CTA Community Supports' Residential Services provide adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities a safe, supportive home where they can build independence while receiving personalized care. Our goal is to help each resident live as independently as possible while participating in their community, developing life skills, and working toward their personal goals.

To join our Residential Services program, you'll need to be approved for funding through Utah's Division of Services for People with Disabilities (DSPD) . At this time, CTA Community Supports serves individuals with DSPD funding and is unable to accept private-pay clients. Our team can answer your questions and point you to the right resources to get started.

CTA Community Supports offers residential homes designed to provide a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment in traditional neighborhoods. Each individual will have their own private bedroom and will typically share the home with 2-3 roommates. Home placements are based on each individual's support needs, compatibility, and available openings to help create a positive living experience.

Yes. For many individuals, Residential Services are a long-term living option that provides ongoing support in a safe, stable home environment. As needs and goals change over time, our team works closely with each individual, their family or guardian, and their support team to ensure services continue to meet their needs.

Yes. Depending on your individual needs and residential placement, trained Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide assistance with daily living, health and safety, medication support, and other individualized services.

Yes. You can visit your loved one at any time. CTA will also help facilitate home visits and provide transportation.

Your services are tailored to your Individual Support Plan (ISP) and personal goals. Support may include: Personal care and hygiene assistance Medication management Meal planning and preparation Transportation to appointments, home visits and community activities Life skills development Communication strategies Community involvement and recreational activities Career-building and employment opportunities Support with achieving greater independence Behavior support services Applied Behavior Analysis Manage medical appointments Financial management with career wages, Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare Our team focuses on helping you or your loved one develop the skills and confidence to live a fulfilling, independent life.

Absolutely. CTA Community Supports values strong partnerships with families, guardians, and care teams. We encourage families and/or guardians to be involved in every aspect of their loved one’s care. Additionally, CTA’s care team and families will meet annually to discuss the individual’s care, progress, and to set new goals. Families can also request a meeting at any time to discuss the individual’s care.

Your input—or your loved one's input—is an essential part of the process. We work closely with individuals, families, and guardians to ensure each placement is a good fit. We thoughtfully match roommates based on personalities, interests, support needs, daily routines, and overall compatibility to help create a comfortable and supportive home environment.

After receiving a referral and DSPD funding, our team will learn more about your needs, discuss available residential options, and determine whether one of our homes is the right fit. If a placement is available, you will tour the home and meet with current residents. CTA will work with your Support Coordinator provided by DSPD to get the appropriate funding in place and schedule an intake meeting. At the intake meeting, we will gather more detailed information. Once that is complete, we will schedule a move-in date.

CTA Community Supports provides Residential Services throughout Utah, including Salt Lake and Davis Counties.

To begin Residential Services with CTA Community Supports, you must first be approved for DSPD funding. If you haven't started the DSPD application process, our team is happy to provide information about where to begin and answer questions about the process.
